Dietitian

A dietitian is an important part of the multidisciplinary team working with  at Greenslopes Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  Not only is a healthy diet pivotal in maintaining good health, it is also vital to the long-term success of your treatment.

Women who develop gestational diabetes will benefit from a consultation with a dietitian.  Changing to an appropriate healthy diet may be the only treatment required for many women with gestational diabetes.

Weight optimisation has many health benefits, and will also reduce the risk for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.  Having a healthy weight before surgery will also reduce the operative risks, including the risk of deep venous thromboembolism (DVTs).

How can a dietitian help?

  • assess your nutritional needs
  • design a personalised meal plan for you
  • help you establish realistic short-term and long-term goals
  • support you in staying on track with your nutrition plan
